Touch Technologies: Capacitive vs. resistive
ClickTouch offers two different touch technologies: capacitive and resistive touch technologies. If you’re looking for a durable and functional solution that works under extreme conditions (e.g., with thick glass, water, gloves, or strict EMC and ESD requirements), or if you’d like to upgrade your product, ClickTouch has the cutting-edge technologies and expertise you need.
Capacitive Touchscreen
Capacitive touch sensing (CTS) or projected capacitive touch sensing (PCAP) utilizes the conductive properties of the human body—unlike resistive touchscreens, which rely on pressure. This allows users to easily interact with the screen by performing various touch gestures: single and multi-touch, rotating, zooming, etc.
Resistive Touchscreen
Resistive touchscreens use two layers that make physical contact with each other when touched. This generates an electrical signal that registers the touch, regardless of the object used (e.g., finger, stylus, palm). The screen is versatile, but unlike capacitive touch sensing (CTS), it requires physical pressure to operate.
