No metal
Although the ClickTouch dome is an exciting and innovative solution, it has actually been around for three decades. What truly sets it apart from the classic metal dome is that it does not contain a single metal part. In fact, ClickTouch uses its very own, specially patented embossing technique to manufacture the touch dome. One advantage of eliminating metal is that we can more easily determine the actuation force of the buttons, whereas a metal dome is more limited in this regard. Furthermore, there is no risk of self-contact or electrostatic discharge. If antennas are nearby, there is no interference whatsoever, which significantly increases reliability.
In addition, ClickTouch uses an embossing process for each individual key to manufacture complete membrane keyboards. As an added benefit, the ClickTouch dome developed entirely in Belgium meets the IP67 protection rating and is therefore completely sealed against dust and moisture.
The Advantages Over Metal Domes
A key advantage of the ClickTouch dome is its long service life. While a metal dome guarantees approximately 1 million actuations per key, the ClickTouch dome guarantees at least 6. In addition, the ClickTouch dome is perfectly suited for use with gloves, as it offers a longer travel distance of up to 2mm. This ensures the best possible tactile feedback for the user. Since no metal is required to manufacture the dome, key illumination can also be easily integrated as an additional feature. Thanks to extensive testing and development work, ClickTouch also guarantees high resistance to a wide range of industrial chemicals. Furthermore, a UV-cured, scratch-resistant coating is applied to specific areas during production. This means that, if required, a completely crystal-clear display window can be provided.
