Smartec B.V. was founded in 1987 and originated from a laboratory concept at Delft University of Technology (TUD, Netherlands). There, a temperature sensor with a digital output was developed that did not need to be calibrated. This has proven to be more accurate and reliable than any other digital temperature sensor on the market. This sensor has already been sold over 15 million times worldwide.
Smartec has continuously expanded its product range through research and development initiatives. The range was further expanded with the market launch of the humidity and infrared sensor.
The company has introduced the Universal Transducer Interface (UTI) and a complete range of pressure sensors from 0.01 to 300 PSI. After 18 years of intensive research by TUD scientists, an improved version of Smartecs' digital temperature sensor, the SMT172, was launched in 2015. The SMT172 has proven to be the most accurate sensor in the world and is sold extensively worldwide. Over the years, Smartec has built strategic alliances with world-class semiconductor companies in Europe and the Far East. These alliances have resulted in long-term partnerships characterized by close collaboration in research and development, not only with Smartec, but also with technical universities throughout Europe. Smartec is continuously expanding its global distribution network and has sales representatives in over 20 countries.
